Wasabi, a gorgeous and cute Pekingese dog was crowned Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show 2021 on Sunday.
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is an all-breed conformation show that has a history of 145 years.

The Pekingese (also spelled as Pekinese) is a breed of toy dog originating in China, its name refers to Peking (Beijing). Back then in China, only the royal families were allowed to keep a Pekingese.
Wasabi became the fifth Pekingese that won Best in Show in the 145 years history of Westminster dog show.

Wasabi’s great-grandfather, Malachy, has also won Best in Show in 2012.
The line breeder and owner, David Fitzpatrick, was surprised as Wasabi became the last pup standing against a Whippet, a Sheepdog and a Samoyed that was the top-ranked show dog in US.
“I didn’t think lightning would strike twice,” said Fitzpatrick.
