Lots of news is swirling around popular video streaming app, iflix, as the company has reportedly been searching for a buyer earlier this month.

Just today, tech blog Lowyat.net discovered that iflix’s Google Play and App Store pages been updated with a new company owner, which happens to be a subsidiary of China’s Tencent Holdings (Renfeng Media Tech Inc).

This led to the conclusion that iflix could have already been acquired by the Chinese giant.

This acquisition could be very beneficial to Tencent due to iflix’s strong presence in the SouthEast Asian region.

This could present a great avenue for Tencent to distribute more of their China-produced content to SouthEast Asia via iflix, making it a very strong contender against Netflix and Apple TV+.
