Xiaomi has surpassed Apple to become the world’s No. 3 smartphone maker by shipments in the July-September quarter according to IDC, Counterpoint, and Canalys.
Huawei, Samsung and Xiaomi are now the top 3 phone makers in the world. Followed by Apple as the No. 4 phone maker, the fifth, sixth, and seventh spots go to BBK brands Oppo, Vivo, and Realme.

Shipped 46.2m smart phones, Xiaomi had a 46% jump in shipments from a year ago for the three months to September. while Apple has recorded a 7% drop in shipments year over year, selling 41.7m iPhones in the same quarter.

Xiaomi was founded in 2010 by Lei Jun, and was labelled as the “China’s Apple” early during its debut. the company has later promoted itself as a data-centric internet company, producing smart TVs, wireless earbuds, smart speakers and smart lightbulbs and etc, offering products with premium specifications at affordable prices.
