
Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Vivian Balakrishnan calls for a visit to Malaysia in meeting Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob to reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to one another amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides that, the full reopening of land and air borders between Singapore and Malaysia (previously allowed for vaccinated people only) was also hailed by the two leaders during the meeting.
Dr. Balakrishnan then met with his Malaysian colleague, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Saifuddin Abdullah, in Putrajaya, where they took stock of ongoing bilateral collaboration and agreed that it had proceeded apace despite the pandemic and travel restrictions.

The foreign ministries also discussed how both sides may continue to collaborate and help one another in the aftermath of the pandemic, especially through tourism and increased inter-personal engagement.
