Mazda, one of the largest automakers from Japan, has managed to carve itself a successful niche as a “semi-premium” brand that stands above local brands like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan.
Now, the automaker is aiming to take on premium Western brands with newly upgraded dealer facilities, as well as a new range of inline 6-cylinder engines for 2022 and 2023.

At present, having 6-cylinder engines is not very common in Mazda cars, but this move could allow the brand to reposition itself in the premium-level market.
The next generation Mazda 6 which will also ditch its front-wheel drive, and instead will be rear-wheel drive — following the footsteps of rivals BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class.
