The first parliament meeting kicked off in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, 26 July 2021 after 8 months of break since 17 December 2020.
The Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) sitting is the first meeting after it had been suspended since Sultan Abdullah approved a state of emergency in January 2021.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin began his speech over an hour after the sitting began.
In his 40-minute speech, the Prime Minister did not address the opposition’s assertions but detailed his administration’s policies on COVID-19 national recovery plan.
“The important thing is that we must show solidarity in facing these difficult times.” he said. “Let’s not argue and point fingers.”
