Malaysia reopens dine-ins despite daily cases at all time highs; over 50% adults now vaccinated

Dine Ins Malaysia

Malaysia is slowly reopening its economy after being under lock-downs for over 3 months.

Earlier today, caretaker Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced that individuals who have been”fully vaccinated” are now allowed to dine-in at eateries even in areas categorized as “high risk” (phase 1).

These individuals will also be allowed to engage in non-contact outdoor sports activities (ie: camping), and are allowed to visit night markets as well.

“Sports, recreation and leisure activities without physical contact and non-group activities (outdoors) are also permitted for states under Phase 1 of the NRP and beyond, in the same district.

These relaxations take place as Malaysia has crossed over 50% of its adult population being fully vaccinated, ahead of the intended schedule (50% vaccinations by 31st August).

Despite the good news, Malaysia today reported its highest number of daily cases, which stood at 22,948 people.
