A luxury ryokan (traditional Japanese Inn), Hoshinoya Tokyo, has introduced a unique lantern pod dining experience to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The fancy lantern-style pods that hang from above are modified to achieve greater visibility and convenience whilst sitting down, standing up, and having food served.

“As the installation of partitions in restaurants and eating spaces are standardized, we wondered if we could propose an experience that would make dining more enjoyable,” says General Manager Ryosuke Akahane.
The pods have received good feedback from customers as the experience was surprisingly easy to get used to.
