Instagram has removed the “verified badge” of former Miss Malaysia 2017, Samantha Katie James.

The badge no longer appears on her Instagram account as of today (June 2nd).

This comes after the former beauty pageant champion posted offensive remarks on her Instagram account pertaining to the #blacklivesmatter protests in the US.

Netizens across the country were quick to slam James’ remarks, many replying negative comments on most of her Instagram postings.

Some celebrities in the country even took the matter to their social media profiles, bashing her for her insensitive remarks.

Since the incident, it is reported that several brands and organizations that used to work with the former champion are now withdrawing their support as well.

The terms “Samantha” and “Miss Universe Malaysia” have also climbed to number two and three on Malaysia’s Twitter trends list as of yesterday evening.
