Jetpack Aviation, an American company that is best known for making vertical people propellers, has just completed its first successful flight for its “flying motorcycle”.
Also known as The Speeder, the flying motorcycle is powered by miniature jet turbines allowing it to lift-off, climb, do turns, and even hold itself in a stable hover using LiDAR technology.
The Speeder also allows users to attach wings to it, making it possible to achieve top speeds as high as 150 mph (or more), although the company will most likely be limiting it to 60 mph.
“Right now we’ve verified it can take off, climb, do turns. It can hold itself in a stable hover using LiDAR. Nice and accurate. It does slowly drift a bit at the moment, maybe a foot over five minutes, but you can give it a decent shove with a pole and it’ll wobble and then come right back to where it was.”

While it is still very early in the development, Jetpack Aviation mentions that The Speeder could be released as early as 2023.
When it is released, The Speeder will most likely be priced north of $380,000, and available in 2 consumer versions.
Pilots will most likely need a license before they can fly them.
