The Chinese version of TikTok, Douyin, is limiting users under the age of 14-years-old to just 40 minutes of use time a day.

This move is part of China’s aim on tackling internet addiction that’s happening among teenagers.

Earlier this month, Beijing began limiting the time teenagers were allowed to spend playing games on both their phones and computers.

The restriction not only limits the amount of time on the app, but also only allows users to log on between 6am to 10pm.

The parent company, Bytedance, is also adding a feature that requires users to authenticate their account and strongly encourages parents to assist in completing the process.
