WHO scientists & investigators have ruled out the theory that Covid leaked from a lab, according to a new report from the Daily Mail.
The team of 14 WHO scientists who carried out a month-long investigation on the origin of the pandemic believe that the spread could have started outside China and was brought into Wuhan via frozen food imports.
Dr. Peter Embarek, leader of the WHO team, also added that further studies should be carried out on whether the virus was “imported” into the country, and to examine ‘cold-chain’ products such as Australian beef.
“However, the findings suggest that the laboratory incidents hypothesis is extremely unlikely to explain the introduction of the virus to the human population,” Embarek said.
Peter Embarek, lead researcher for WHO in Wuhan, has also put forward four theories about how the virus could have infected humans:
- Direct transfer from source animal into people
Transfer via an intermediary animal
- Transfer via food
- Transfer via a lab leak (pictured, a chart showing the four routes)
