China’s Mars space-rover, ZhuRong, has successfully landed on Mars.
The news was announced by China’s state media today.
ZhuRong is a 6-wheeled robot developed to explore the unchartered vast terrain on Mars, the Utopia Planitia, located on the planet’s northern hemisphere.

After 7 months of space travel and spending 3 months in orbit, the successful landing marks a significant milestone for China’s space exploration.
China is now the third country in the world to land a spacecraft 319 million kilometers away from earth, after the United States and former Soviet Union.

If ZhuRong succeeds in collecting and sending back information over the next 90 days, China would become the second country to accomplish this task.
