Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia’s rising badminton star, has sent an appeal to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) over his two-year ban by the association.
How it all started:
- Lee Zii Jia left Malaysia’s badminton national team on January 11th to pursue an independent badminton career
- However, BAM decided to ban Lee Zii Jia, preventing him to participate in any international tournaments for 2 years
This ban resulted in much backlash and distress from many Malaysian citizens, saying that this decision would be unfair to Lee Zii Jia.
Numerous Malaysians have shown their support for the badminton star so much that a petition has been gaining traction on social media.

It even drew the attention of World No.1 badminton men’s singles, Viktor Axelsen, voicing his support for Lee Zii Jia in a Facebook post.
You go express your thoughts to your boss and tell her/him you want to quit and find another place to work. However your boss is not happy about your decision and since they (have) the power to ban you from applying to jobs in your field, they might go ahead and do so. You just have to wait and see. Just listen how crazy this is. This is year 2022. Is this what we want for our sport?

As of now, the BAM has confirmed receiving the appeal letter and is looking into the issue.
