Audi, one of the most famous car brands in the world, has officially confirmed the immediate termination of the development of combustion engines, which include petrol and diesel engines.
CEO of Audi, Markus Duesmann, mentioned this to the German publication Automobilwoche, marking a new era of electric vehicles (EV).

Audi is doing this in order to comply with the new Euro 7 regulations which take effect in the coming few years.
“The EU plans for an even stricter Euro 7 emissions standard are a huge technical challenge and at the same time have little benefit for the environment,” Markus said.

Audi already has much success for its first pure EV car, the Audi e-tron series, which has been in the market for several years.
The automaker is expecting more impressive EVs to be produced in the future.
