Tencent’s music streaming platform, JOOX, sees spike in traffics to its karaoke services up by as much as 50% during the current health situation expanding in Southeast Asia.
“It’s exactly during this period of time the usage of karaoke jumped like 30% to 50%, depending on the countries,” Poshu Yeung, vice president of Tencent’s International Business Group.

JOOX’s karaoke feature allows users to sing along with friends and receive online gifts via the app.
Users in Southeast Asia are willing to pay, although they numbers are not as high as total subscribers. JOOX has added new features that allow users to use coins to gain VIP status and send gifts to friends holding various activities including karaoke, events and livestreaming.
